BFWG Sybil Campbell Collection
Notes on using the online catalogue
The contents of the Collection reflect its close association with the British Federation of University Women (founded 1907) and the International Federation of University Women (founded 1920).

The Dewey lists
The Dewey lists are meant for browsing so that you can scan through them and find what books and other items we have in the Collection.
The Dewey system places books on similar subjects together, such as: Dewey 823 English Fiction; Dewey 840-849 French Literature.
An indication of the subject matter is given beside each Dewey numbered list.
Dewey categories, except Biography, are listed by author, surname first.
The Biography category, our largest section, is listed by ‘Biographee’, that is the person the book is about, not the author. For example, books about the life of Vera Brittain appear together under Biographee “Brittain, Vera”; books about the life of Thomas More appear under Biographee “More, Sir Thomas”
There are composite lists in the Biographee sections, such as “Diaries”, “Irishmen in France”, “War letters”, “Women: dutiful daughters”. Browse the Dewey Biographee lists to find more.
Modifications we have made
The very long titles of some of our older books have been shortened for economy of space.
Dewey numbering has been modified to suit our Collection in that we have used Dewey numbers 060 to 068.9 for IFUW and BFUW material.
Source (Donor) Search
